Spring time walk...

After we were finished with school today we headed over to the fish hatchery to enjoy the beautiful weather.  After feeding the fish we went on a walk along the bike trail.  We were met with the signs of spring including gorgeous poppies everywhere.

Alone...

It's just me, Iron Man 2 and the Sunday paper today.  

The boys spent the night with the Grandparents and Keith is out at the Ranch Run.  

I did go watch the boy swim for a bit, but other than that it's been a much needed relaxing day.

Today was Jen's Fiesta 40 Party!  My contribution included some amazing Margarita Cupcakes.

I had a date tonight with my heat gun and a wooden spoon, ribbon curling was happening.

What the hail?!?!?

 

On our way home from shopping it started pouring down rain, then as soon as we pulled into the garage the hail started.  Cody and I stood just inside the garage watching it come down, then watching the lightning and waiting on the thunder.  Quite the spring storm we had!

Little Skater Boy

Cody's really starting to get the hang of his RipStik, he can go quite a bit before stopping.  His next task is to learn how to start without holding on to something.

Cody made it a point after breakfast to bring Keith and I the special eggs he dyed for us yesterday.

Yep, there they are.  Only one egg hit the floor, I'm impressed.

Permanent fixtures for the next 6-8 months...

These, amongst others (like the missing, beloved, face stick) will be sitting on the counter until probably October or so.  The boys hit the pool (twice!) with Grandma today in hopes of having Tyler remember he can swim before swim team starts in a couple of weeks.  So far things are going okay, Cody on the other hand swam 22 laps in his evening session!

Workin' at the Car Wash...

They put in a new Quick Quack Car Wash in our area and we drove by it yesterday.  The boys decided that if I wasn't going to stop and get the Tahoe washed they needed to do it themselves.  So I pulled down the car soap, mits and buckets, turned on the hose and let them go at it.  We decided the Van could use a scrub as well.  They had fun, even if the cars didn't turn out all that clean!

Buddies...

We celebrated 3 friends turning 8 today at the park.  Cody's buddies from preschool, along with some of my best friends, it was a great time.

Old School

Grandma and Grandpa Douglas brought down a bunch of old games and puzzles for us during their visit over the last few days.  The boys have been playing with our old View Finder.

Tree Trimmin'

The neighbors behind us had a tree that was dying and with a lot of branches that hung over on our side, today they had it cut way back and we spent a lot of time watching them.

Something new....

Cody has been asking for a while to try rollerblades, so today was the day.  

It really wasn't much different for him, but he felt like a bigger kid, rollerblading with his buddies.

and I finally let them play the Wii!  

We don't let them play it very often as it can bring out some bad attitudes.  After a good school day and them running around outside as long as the weather allowed, Wii it was.

We went to a play this afternoon to see a children's theater production, it was really great.

Head is swimming...

We are switching our charter school for the next school year, giving me more control over the curriculum and making funds available for other enrichment activities. 

My head is swimming as I'm going through the 50 lb packet of papers.  

(okay, so that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it's a good 5 lbs at least!)

On a hike...

For homeschooling group today we met and went down by the river for a hike.   Such a beautiful day after a few days of rain, it was perfect.

More Karate...

The boys are really loving karate.  

Only a couple more weeks left on our Groupon, boo.

I go through phases where I can't get enough of certain foods.  

The current heavy hitter is corn tortilla quesadillas with ground turkey and salsa. YUM!

Bath...

Today was rainy and cold, we had a short school day and boredom was setting in.  Tyler's solution was to enjoy a bath for about an hour this afternoon.  Sounds good to me!

Pecker...

We have a wood pecker hanging out in our front trees, the boys really enjoyed watching him work this morning.  He was hard to catch a picture of, but you can see his red head with black and white body on the tree trunk.

Bank tour...

We went on a bank tour today with our homeschooling group.  The kids were all very interested to see how it all worked.  Here they are learning about the coin machine and how it sorts and bags the coins.  They were able to see what the tellers do, and how they have machines that disperse money.  Then they went back into the vault, seeing a stack of 2000 one-dollar bills, they thought that was awesome.  

They were given a goody bag with fun pencils and stickers then received a shiny, new $1 coin.  

Awesome field trip!

New journals

The boys have sparkling new journals to help boost their writing skills a bit.  Both boys are working hard to improve, this made it a bit more exciting.

Gymnastics toe...

Tyler decided he wanted his toe painted again for gymnastics, so he could remember which is his lead foot.  Today's choice: electric blue with green sparkles.

I'ma cut you...

and that's what I did.  

Today's project was to cut all the remaining blocks of the month sew that I can work on putting them together quicker.  Then there's the task of all the filler pieces to make it into an actual quilt.  Baby steps...

New....

We upgraded our tv/internet today.  Along with moving the living room around slightly.  

Yay for fast internet that isn't thinking about every move and a crap-ton of new channels to enjoy for 6 months until our promo price ends and we'll jump down a level or 3.

A 35 minute tour....

We ent on a tour of the new Whole Foods in Folsom with our Homeschooling group today.  It was really fun to have a guided walk around the store.  Here she is letting us sample fresh ground peanut and chocolate chip butter.  YUM!

Karate...

The boys were given a Groupon for Christmas for a month of karate.  Today was their first class and they both seamed to have a good time.

Son of a.....

I've been meaning to fix the boys' floor pillows for months now and finally pulled them out yesterday.  I am sewing a new liner out of old heavy bed sheets because the quilted tops keep tearing and letting the foam beads out.  

So I sewed up the first insert and went to transfer the beads from old to new and dropped the old, still full bag.  We will have foam beads around the house for months.

Final Game...

Cody's last basketball game for the season was today.  His team played well and squeaked out a final win 14-12.  He received a cool new medal to add to his collection and a certificate.

Watching the live feed...

Keith is in Bakersfield this weekend for the March Meet with the Top Fuel dragster he crews for and bangshift.com has a live feed of the race all weekend.  We spent the last hour of our school day flipping between the race and our science studies waiting for Mike's car to run.  

Fingers crossed they fix the car and get in the show tomorrow.

Printed pictures...

It's bad when this is a major accomplishment for the day.  Anyway...

The pictures came in the mail today for my new frames that will sit on the opening between the kitchen and family room.  Once I get some other things put away, they will be spread out a bit.
