Cover for Nook

Yay, my Nook is no longer naked!
I can now take it places protected and without feeling like it's going to get broken process.

I ordered a PDF pattern from here.
This was a huge help in not having to figure out dimensions and design.

Being fancy and all, a quilted look was in store.  So I dug through my fabric stash and found some that weren't going to be used and decided they were prefect and bright.

Here is the cover all laid out.
 Mini yo-yo button closure
 Inside, left side has pockets
Nook Color resting in it's new case...
 All buttoned up
 The back...

A fun little Thursday project.

Day 137

Go Tigersharks!
The boys and I are walking in the Pow Wow days parade on Saturday with the swim team, so we made some shirts so we can look the part.

9am on Greenback between Main and Filbert in Orangevale.

Day 136

Cutting more fabric....
Wait a minute, we've been here before, I recognize that tree!

I'm working on a cover for my new nook.  I'm hoping the idea in my head works out well when it's all sewn together.  Luckily I found a great pattern to at least give me dimensions so at least that guess work is gone.

Day 135

Take me out to the ball game....
Today we went to a school day at Raley field to see the Rivercats play.
We are not baseball people and as much as the boys have been wanting to go back, we lasted a whopping 2 innings.
I think a good part of this had to do with the 1 hour assembly we had to sit through before the game where we couldn't really understand what the speaker was saying.

Hopefully we can knock this off the boys' to do list.

Day 134

Booties...
Fluffy ones at that.

Day 133

On the lake....
The boys headed off to the lake with Uncle Stu, Aunt Virginia and Uncle Eli for most of the day.  This meant my house was very quiet and I was able to finish up a couple of projects and just sit.
Happy Mother's Day!

Block of the Month Quilt

Last Christmas my Mother-in-Law, Judy, bought me the finishing kit and first month's block for a block of the month quilting "class."  Each month you are supposed to finish the block and then the following month you take in your  finished block to the store and they will give you a new one to work on.  Mine didn't go as planned as I let life get in the way.  It has now been pieced and is headed off to the long-arm quilter!  Hooray!
Here are all the blocks for the Rose Garden Quilt
January: Lilibet

February: Ballerina

March: Burbank

April: Celestial

May: Dainty Bess

June: Maiden's Blush

July: Radiance

August: Hermosa

September: September Morn

October: Eternal Youth

November: Ophelia

December: Belle Amour

24 Log Cabin Blocks:

Pieced together on the wall to look like this:

Sewn together with the boarders to look like this:
The backing will be the dark green you see on the top.

I'm so happy to have finished and am felling accomplished.    It photographs well because you can't see all the flaws.  It has some issues and would be laughed out of the quilt shows, but it's my first real pieced together quilt!

Thank you all so much!

Day 131

Coming together....
I finished up the last of the log cabin filler blocks this afternoon and was able to put it together on the wall.  Now I need to take one of the monthly blocks apart to fix (I swear it looks like I was drunk when I put it together) and can start sewing the blocks together!
Add some boarders, cut the backing and off to the long-arm quilter to be quilted.

Day 130

Anniversary...
Pretty flowers on our new table.
Dinner out at Chicago Fire Pizza to top it all off.

Day 127

So there's this consignment shop....
It had lots of cool furniture, most way too expensive and then we found this gem in the back corner.  It's a farm house style that I love and the price was right.  After a trip home to make sure that it would fit, we went back and picked it up.  Now comes the work of cleaning up the old table and the bench set with table to sell on Craigslist.

A successful chase...
After a busy day, the ice cream truck came by.  The boys rushed to their room, grabbed their cash and jumped on a bike and a scooter in hopes of catching the ice cream truck.  It was clear down the street before they caught up, but they happily came back with treats in hand.

Swimming...
We made it home from our first day of swim team, with most of the team there for their age groups.  It was busy, but Cody made quite a few laps.  Tyler didn't get much swim time today, but they are working on leveling the age groups, so hopefully this will get better.

The boys and I spent from 7am-12:30 today on the soccer field as part of my coaches training.  They were our helpers today and really had a good time learning some new skills.
I'm now an official "F" licensed coach, with a whole new perspective on how things will run in the fall.

Day 110

Swimmer boys...
We've made it through our first week of swim!  I'm excited for clinic to be over so that Cody can move over to more of his age group and be pushed a bit harder.  Ty is coming along and getting better at not grabbing the lines 20 times on the way down, more like 4 or 5 times towards the end.

That's how the day felt, WAY over stretched.

Alone...
It's just me, Iron Man 2 and the Sunday paper today.
The boys spent the night with the Grandparents and Keith is out at the Ranch Run.
I did go watch the boy swim for a bit, but other than that it's been a much needed relaxing day.
