Day 242

Mini Golf....

We took Uncle Tim to the mini golf course in Roseville to get out of the house for a bit.  We've only played once at Sunsplash/Golfland and it was the other course.  This was a challenge!  One ball lost in the water later it was time to go in for some video games instead of taking a spin around the other course.

New set.....

Ty was able to pick out a new LEGO set for his Birthday, then spent part of the afternoon putting it all together.  He's getting really good at this, only needing help on one spot.

Tyler turned seven today.

Chicago....

Oh my goodness, what a fun evening!  A good friend had an extra ticket and I was the lucky one that was able to go.  The cast was amazing and the show was wonderful.

Recipes.....

For longer than I care to think about, recipes that I have found in magazines and online have been stuffed and jammed into magazine boxes all over my counter.  In hopes of being able to find them and actually try some of  these tasty delights, I'm on a mission to get them organized.  

I've been rough organizing them by category, trimming them down to as small as possible, gluing them onto card stock and sliding them into sheet protectors to put into notebooks.  They are loosely sorted so that I can easily add new recipes to the back of each section.

Clean......

I've seen the light. 

We have been wasting money on fancy laundry soap for too long.  I tried a less expensive brand and while it worked okay, I hate the way it left everything smelling. In hopes of saving a few bucks each month I found a soap recipe on Pinterest that had good reviews, didn't require shaving soap bars or cooking it on the stove.

I had the Dawn and bought the other two soaps at Winco for $7 total.  I only used 3 Tbsp from each box, so it's pennies for a gallon verses $13+.

We are able to get the boys I.D. cards through their charter school.  I kinda think it's a waist because we didn't use them for anything last year, but the boys think they are cool.

Soccer, take 2.....

We've been team hopping.  Cody's first team he was placed on turned out to be a huge bust.  After talking with his old coach, he was able to set up a try-out for his comp team.  He did okay on try-out day,  luckily his coach knows his potential and he was placed on the team.  He's a bit behind their fitness as they have been practicing since June, but he's happy.

Fixed....

The garage door is fixed!  The repair man came out quickly and had things back together in a little over an hour. He was also able to service the door by greasing everything, fixing a couple of broken wheels and adjusted one of the tracks that was a bit off.  I doubt the garage has ever been so happy!

Back to school...

We started back to our school routine today!  

Now to really crank up the busy schedule.

Birthday quilt.....

We have a lot of Birthdays in the Scollay family from the end of July through the first part of September.  Today we celebrated Keith and Virginia's days.  Judy kept Virginia's t-shirts from Girl Scouts and made them into a beautiful quilt with really fun camping fabric.

Broken....

Making it so our garage door won't open.  

What really happened is that we have a broken spring, causing uneven weight distribution and the bracket finally pulled out from too much weight.   Luckily, the Tahoe isn't being parked inside right now so we didn't have to try and lift the heavy door by hand just yet.

Friday Wii.....

It's our last Friday of summer break and after a long week of sports and activities the boys ask if they could have some Wii time.  Good end of the summer treat as they rarely play.

Ready for fall...

We spent a better part of the morning going through the boys' closets, trying on clothes to make sure they fit and getting rid of things that didn't.  

Ty's side (right) is full and well stocked.  

Cody's side (left) is a bit sparse.  

We will be watching the sales to pick up a few pieces to fill his side out. 

I give it 3 days before they have it destroyed again.....

Odd findings...

We made a grocery run to Sprouts to pick up the grapes they have on sale ($.78 per pound!).  While looking around we found this Spiked Melon.  Tyler thought it looked like a puffer fish and was very amused by this odd fruit find.

Absentee Gardening....

We have been the worst gardeners this season.  I do have water running to each of the barrels on a a timer, so they aren't completely neglected.  I've noticed the strawberry plants looking very green and new flowers are blooming.  After digging through we had our biggest harvest yet!  These were the tasty strawberries I think we've ever eaten.

Working on the first week of school plans.  Really hoping that we're able to fit it all in!

Tyler had another party today for one of his level 4 gym buddies.

Pool Party.....

We had a bbq tonight with all the boys on Ty's Gymnastics team.  It was fun for them to be able to hang out and let loose outside of practice.  The upper level boys were great around the younger ones, so cool to see.

More supplies....

Instead of shopping the deals at the stores, I decided to skip the crowd and order supply kits for both the boys.  Cody's arrived today, all shiny and new.  Now to figure out where it all will go.

Somethings missing....

Whoo Hooo! 

 Tooth #3 finally fell out last night just after bedtime.  So glad this thing is finally out, it was reaching the way to loose, way too much movement phase.

Ready to play....

Cody was invited to a friends house today for a Pokemon tournament.  

They had a blast and were happy to get together after not seeing each other for a couple of weeks.

Soccer!

 Cody finally started soccer again tonight.  

It's a new league with a new team, so we're still trying to test the waters a bit.  

He's stoked to be back on the field and is playing really well.

New wheels....

Grandpa found Ty a new bike while out hunting at yard sales over the weekend.  He took it home, tuned it up and it was ready to go.  He's enjoying it and loves that his bike is the same size as Cody's.

School....

We received the last of the boys' curriculum order this week, so it was time to get it all organized.  Now to start lesson plans, only 2 weeks until we need to start!

Meet of Champs....

Cody had a good day at his final swim meet for the season.  He had PR's in all of his events to cap off the season.  Tyler was a bit bummed to not qualify, but had a lot of fun with his swim buddies anyway.

Yep, another trip to the dentist for the boys!

Shelves....

Finally put up the boys' display shelves in their bedroom, they are happy for some more space on the books shelf and can really show off their trophies and crafts.

Rings....

We had some plans to try and do some building in the backyard over the summer.  The plans included making the boys a tall swing set and a place for rings.  We also want to put up a high bar that's adult strong for pull-ups.   Then life happens and wood is really expensive making it so we haven't been able to complete any of these yet.  I did find some of the components and have had them stored away since spring.  Looking at the porch, it seamed like a fine spot to hang them so Ty can work on his strength.  No big swinging aloud, but they are working well so far.

Ty was chosen as the stretch leader today at practice, he was beaming the entire time.

Bike swap....

Tyler's bike is becoming too small for him.  While the boys were playing outside today, Cody put the seat down on his bike and gave it to Ty to ride for a bit.  He loves it when he gets to ride Cody's bike.

Swim ribbons....

I've been really lazy with these this year, but finally put the boys' ribbon boards together. 

I love how they turned out this year.  I wish I had put Cody's Folsom medals up higher because they cover the names of the other events.   Something to fix next time.

Pretty....

I thought I had pulled out all the sunflowers from last season, but something started to grow in the pumpkin pot that wasn't a pumpkin.  Fast forward to this week and we have sunflowers blooming.  They are so pretty, can't say we're sad about that!  I do think they are choking out our pumpkins, which are not growing well at all.

Little man came over to hang out today.  We spent some time out front splashing in the water for a bit.

Cody has two more weeks of practice that started today.  They had a hard workout getting ready for Meet of Champs.

So I've added a title to my name, President of the Parent's Board for swim team.  

We have a lot to work on before next summer and it's already began.

Party time!

Tonight we celebrated the swim season at the pool with the team.  The boys had fun swimming with their friends and on of their favorite coaches.

The boys swam in their league champs today, a very long day at the pool. 

In the end, they had good times and Cody qualified for the Sac Valley Meet of Champions!

Fixed!

Sometimes it's the little things.....

The knob on my crock pot as been cracked for almost a year and finally got to the point that it fell off.  I could still turn the dial, simply counting the clicks to put it onto the correct temperature.  

Mom-in-law borrowed my crock and it came home with a new knob.  I added some paint and an arrow and it's back to working like it should!

Sugar high....

After swim this morning, the boys went on a movie date with 3 of their favorite coaches.  While out they had lots of treats.  The results of this was one with a ton of energy and the other one crashing.

It was really nice out this evening, so the boys took their evening treat out to the back porch to enjoy.

Ty was helping me move the sprinkler around the backyard, so he slipped off his shirt to play in it for a while.

Last regular meet.....

We had our last dual meet of the season today.  Tyler had an awesome day and Cody is getting back on track to where he was a month ago, finally bettering his times.  

Next week brings on our league champs with high hopes of qualifying for the Sac. Valley Meet of Champs.  Cross your fingers for them!

Christmas in July.....

Well, the boys aren't as excited, but I love seeing all our new school books come in.  We order from one main source, but a lot of them are used and come from different vendors (similar to Amazon), so they are trickling in, a couple a day.
