Day 31

Plotting, planning and building...
The boys have a love for Perler beads.
They have a new book that gives them lots of ideas, but it also has a blank grid so you can make your own designs.  Cody decided to copy a wooden train they have and put it into bead form.

Day 30

Weeks worth of school...
That's what it looks like.  Ty's papers are on the right and Cody's on the left.
Oh boy!  Division, subtraction story problems, new site words, parts of speech, weather, learning what happens to our food when we eat it, Christopher Columbus and the middle ages are what we have in store for this exciting week.

Day 29

Score...
The boys were out for a walk and happened on a garage sale around the corner and came rolling home
with this for free!  We'll have to hit the store and buy a net, but otherwise we now have a practice hoop!

Day 28

Another Saturday on the court...

Cody had his second game today.  They played a bit better and the boys started passing the ball to the girls.  Cody made the first basket of the game, a near 3 point shot from the side that shocked everyone that it went in.  He had a huge grin on his face after that.
Another win under their belts, go team 2!

Day 27

A man with a plan....
to build a plane/boat/helicopter/car/battle machine!

Thursday, January 26, 2012

Day 26

Practicing his gymnastics...
After our runs, we stretch and then Tyler likes to pull out his mat and work on his handstands, bridges, cartwheels and whatever else I'll let him do!

Day 25

Gettin' our roll on...

Today we went on a rollerskating outing.  Tyler has become a speed demon, although he landed on his backside a handful of times because of it.  Icee's for a treat and it was a great time.

Day 24

Little Sony gave us a bit of a scare...
but a switched out power cord (after a bit of dismantling first) and you are working well again!

I hate computer issues.

Day 23

The rabbits are practicing the breast stroke again...

As soon as the rain comes, we get to watch the backyard flood.  Hoping we get to have it come in spurts so we don't have a lake!

Sunday, January 22, 2012

Day 22

Alone...
was my goal for the day.

While out I saw The Descendants.  It proved itself worthy of those awards it received.
It was also completely depressing and hard to watch as the story unraveled.  The advertising was deceptive as to it's light-heartedness.

Pony O's for Ms. G.

We celebrated a friends Birthday today, so I made up some ribbon pony o's for her to sport.

Day 21

After working hard on the basketball court...
a cheeseburger and OJ are in order!
Cody played his first basketball game of the season today, his team won 8-2.  They played a hard game, 30 minutes of basketball with a short 3 minute half time.  He hustled, passed the ball and took a few shots.  Best of all,  they actually had a coach!

Day 20

Rainy Day...
Yep, that's about all we got today.

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Day 19

Light Rail trip...

Today we went on a field trip set up by our charter school to the train museum.  It was fun for the boys to ride the light rail.  It's been a while since we've been to the museum, so it was fun to see a few new things.

Day 18

Learning about Martin Luther King Jr.

We had a learning day with our home school friends.  They heard stories, watched a couple of video clips, made and presented posters about new words we learned, and ended with a choral style reading.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Day 17

Basketball practice...

Cody's first basketball practice was tonight.  They were finally split into teams and they did a bit of a scrimmage.  Hoping the coaching comes together so that they can learn the game a bit more.

Oh and yes, this is pretty much the best shot I was able to get, stupid crappy camera.

Day 16

Waiting and watching...

There was a lot of waiting for our time and turn at gymnastics on Monday.

Sunday, January 15, 2012

Day 15

Things were built....

The boys spent the better part of the afternoon removing the old shelves and top (repurposed from the kitchen remodel) and building a new work bench.  Then we took the building fun inside and installed the new shelves in the boys' closet. Thanks to Rich for all his help!

Day 14

Cody plays baseball...

He was invited to a birthday party at an indoor baseball diamond (actually had two fields and another area of batting cages).  Cody doesn't play baseball, and it was a bit funny to watch him trying to hit the ball.  He did well, although he said he didn't really like it all that much.  He was very stoked to see his friends, so that made it a great time!

Friday, January 13, 2012

Day 13

Can you see me now?

The boys had their first eye appointment today.  Once they went through all the tests, we left without needing glasses.  So we'll see how long our luck lasts with this.

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Day 12

The love of "modern" appliances...

Okay, so love maybe too strong a word.  As much as I hate doing laundry, at least I'm not working the bucket and line!  Thank you, Alva Fisher and the Europeans, for your wonderful ideas.

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Day 11

Ice Skating....
We went to the outdoor rink in Rancho with our homeschooling friends today.  The boys had a really good time, sad that it closes on Monday.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Day 10

Why we love the dentist....

The boys had a 6 month dental check up today, leaving cavity free!
The boys love this place because of the video game wall in the waiting room and the movies that play during their cleaning. Kids Care Dental in Folsom.

Monday, January 9, 2012

Day 9

Getting things cleaned up around the house....

We've been cleaning things up around the house, garage and backyard, but it's all been sitting in a pile in our side yard. Finally scheduled the trash pick up and it will all be gone in the morning.  YAY!

Sunday, January 8, 2012

Day 8

Bowling...
It's fun to see how much better the boys get each time we go.

Saturday, January 7, 2012

Day 7

Basketball has started...

Cody is playing on a different league this year, closer to home.  He's pretty happy to be back in a sport for a couple of months.  I am happy to not be driving 30-45 minutes to games and practices.

Friday, January 6, 2012

Day 6

Stock up day...

On the 6th and the 21st of the month we head out to stock up groceries and such for 2 weeks.  It usually feels like a competition to see just how far that dollar will stretch.
Today we ended up at 6 stores between Birthday gifts, shopping the sales ads, and our everyday grocery stores.  Exhausting.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Day 5

A play date with friends...

A friend had a meeting all afternoon and we picked up her girls from school.  The boys were excited to have them over and take turns on the trampoline.
Oh, and 70 degrees in January = awesome.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Day 4

Today we had our first home school group of the year.  The moms planned things out while the kids played, for nearly four hours.
It helped that it was like a beautiful, spring day today.  It's January, right?

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Day 3

Running....

Ouch.

Monday, January 2, 2012

Day 2

Today I pushed play, a short 20 minutes, but I did it!

Sunday, January 1, 2012

Project 365, Day 1

In hopes of taking more pictures this year, I'm joining in on Project 365.  The original premiss is that you take one picture each day of one year in hopes of stretching your creativity, becoming a better photographer.  I'm using it like a lot of people where it is a way to capture our everyday life for the next year.  Of course I'll still do main blog posts on things crafty (hoping to finish up a bunch of projects this year) and when we have fun, special or life events to report on our family blog.

So here's day 1...

Pizza for dinner to ring in the new year.  That pretty much sums up the excitement of our day!
(They will get better, hopefully.)
