Day 150

Last day of school!

Phew!  We made it through another year.  

We have a summer program to work through, but it's very low key and only takes about 10 minutes a day.

Field Day....

The boys' charter held a field day for all the students.  It was a ton of fun, with lots of games and a hot dog picnic after.

Medals...

 

These were delivered to the pool from the invitational Cody swam at a couple of weeks ago for his place in the heats he swam.  They are a cool idea, somewhat different.  Now I have to figure out how to write on the back of them for what race and his time.

Chillin....

We had Aiden on Tuesday so Cody was hanging out and reading the comics to him for a bit.

County Fair

We visited the county fair today, the boys were excited to hold and pet friendly rabbits.  

Even if the one was the size of a mid sized dog.

Getting ready....

Our first swim meet with the team is coming up on Saturday.  I'm working as the coordinator for the age-group tent and am trying to make sure all my parents have the supplies they need.

Pool time...

It's starting to feel like summer around here!  The pool opened today and the boys were excited to go swim for fun and take as many turns on the slide as they wanted.

Unofficially....

We pretty much wrapped up our school year today.  With a final meeting with our teacher, grades locked into the system and all our lessons completed we are done!  

Next week we have to log a bit of time because our official last day is Friday, so we'll continue Math and start in on our summer writing.

Afternoon play....

It's funny to see what the boys pull out to play with sometimes.  The Beyblade dome has been on the shelf for a while but made a comeback this week.

Yay for Birthdays!

We celebrated my Birthday over the weekend and this was showed up today as part.  

Once upon a time we had an easy-up canopy, but afternoon one too many windy days it was done for.  This will work out awesome for the beach, park and the soccer season. Plus its a ton lighter and easier to set up than the pop-ups.  Stoked!

Crowded...

My table has become crowded.  With school things to wrap up, t-shirts made over the weekend and a sewing project started and left.  I'm seeing another summer goal in the making.

Invitational

Cody is turning into our super swimmer.  We entered into the Folsom Tigershark Invitational today to see what he could do.  He did awesome, with personal records in all events but one and no DQ's!

Day 137

Tree "trimming"

The backyard tree has been a bit of a state due to the neighbors tree growing into it.  They cut back their tree last summer, now it was time to have ours pruned so that it could be healthy again.  He took a ton off, but hopefully it will promote growth and health.  

Now to get it all cleaned up!

Research...

Before going down for the day with a nasty headache, we headed out to Green Acres to do some plant searching.  With the trees gone in the front yard, we really want to add some plants back in to soften the rocks.

The last thing at practice today (before slide time) was relay practice.  The kids love relays!

Once the 8 and under kids are finished with their practice, they love to play on the grass while the older kids swim.

Soccer clinic is still going well. He loves getting out on the field and seams to be picking up the concepts.  His instructor is pretty funny as well, so it's always a good time. 

Tardis Wall Hanging.....

Oh look, another thing made it's way off of Pinterest!  

My good friend is a big Dr. Who fan and I pinned this well a long time ago as ideas for the future.  Finally I was brave and found some more tutorials and blended them together to create a Tardis wall hanging for her Birthday.  

 A new technique that I used was printing directly onto fabric.  So awesome. 

Iron freezer paper onto the back side of your fabric and run it through your printer.  The freezer paper stabilizes and thickens the fabric so that your printer will grab it and keeps it from scrunching up.

 1" finished squares tiles made up the design, mosaic style.

Day 221

Going, going, gone...

Yep, that happened today.  

 We've been talking about wanting the Liquid Amber trees out (aka: Spikey Ball Trees) and it happened today.  Along with removing the already dead Magnolia tree.  Our house and yard look bigger.  It's also making the house scream "Paint me!" 

Now to research a new tree for the middle of the yard and some bushes and such in the rock garden.
