Day 212

Still feeling feverish...
No, none of us are sick, but still can't turn off the Olympics!
We watched the US woman's soccer team beat Korea today, then some white water canoe, fencing and beach volleyball.
Seriously, nothing is getting done in my house, but it only rolls around every 4 years!

Day 211

Play date...
Friends over to play made the boys happy today.

Sunday, July 29, 2012

Day 210

Olympic fever...
Swimming and gymnastics have been top on the boys' lists.
We've also watched soccer, diving, water polo, equestrian and different boating events.

Day 209

Surprise Cake...
The boys, with a bit of help from Mom and lots of help from Gramma D, put together a surprise party for Keith for his Birthday.  Part of that surprise was making and decorating a brownie cake.

Day 208

Today, it's the small thing.
Things like getting ice from the fridge ice maker in the garage that FIL hooked up for us yesterday, instead of having to try and crack the ice out of the trays.
Later it was watching the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.

Day 207

Trying to finish up a few things in before school starts in a few weeks.
(It's not going so well...)

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Day 206

Splash park...
We headed up to El Dorado Hills to the $1 movie (Chimpanzee- awesome documentary) and then over to the park for a bit to play with friends.  I shouldn't have been so lazy, but the conversation was good and I didn't feel like walking around, but here's a shot of Cody waiting for the water to drop on his head.

Day 205

BBQ for dinner...
We are still trying to figure out how to cook on charcoal, but did a 2 for 1 tonight for dinner.  Marinated chicken breasts for sandwiches and a tri-tip for sandwiches another night.  YUM.

Monday, July 23, 2012

Day 204

Big Spoon Treat...
At the swim awards last night we were also given a Big Spoon gift card, I think it was for selling Sun Splash tickets (to ourselves) but none the less, we took advantage and had a yummy afternoon treat after hitting the pool.  YUM!

Day 203

Coach's Award...
Awards night for the swim team, such a fun night.
Full Story to come!

Day 202

VFCAL Champs...
Awesome day today in the pool for the boys!  More to come.

Day 201

Last day of swim team practice...
Tomorrow is Champs, so this is our last practice for the season.
Go Tigersharks!

On some sad news, Bunny Bo died last night.  Not really sure what happened, but guessing he was spooked and ran himself into a heart attack.

Day 200

Train ride....
Cody had a play date this morning, so Ty and I went on a bit of an adventure in Folsom.  After scoping out some Birthday party stuff, we headed over to the library and he rode the train.

Here's reason number 278 why I need to take a photography class with my camera.
The train conductor also teaches photography and will help you out with your camera if you ask.
Right side is my picture, left side is after he set my camera up.

Day 199

Finishing work...
So close to finishing up this first bathroom project!  Today I was able to caulk the baseboards and then paint them.  Also put a coat of paint on the door because it wasn't painted the first time around when we painted the rest of the house and it's been driving me nuts!
Commode needs to be installed, a quick clean of the shower and we can mark this as done.
Then it will be time to tear the other bathroom apart.

Day 198

and panicking a bit.  I've found some drills, found a pacing guide, now to put it all together and plan out practices so there's some order amongst the crazy!

Monday, July 16, 2012

Day 197

We finally glued the new floor down in the back bathroom!
Tomorrow I will do a bit of touch up painting, then we cut and install the baseboards, caulk and reinstall the commode.

Day 196

T-shirt Quilt....
My mother-in-law, Judy, has made a t-shirt quilt for all her kids, using shirts from their high school years.  She made one for me as well, but after some thinking, we decided it needed to be reworked and made into a drag racing quilt.  She finished and gave it back to me today.  An added surprise being that she had a picture of me with one of my cars printed on a shirt and added it in.
Love it!

Day 195

After swim and some rest time in the afternoon we headed out to the race track to watch the racecars for a bit.  The car Keith works on attempted to make another hit, but broke on the burn out.

Day 194

It only took 4 months....
To go through and put away the boxes that were sitting in the dining room.
Containing new-to-the-boys games from my childhood.
Which also had to find homes on the game rack.

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Day 193

Sleepy boys...
After having some grumpy moments and tears of ridiculous things, it was officially declared a nap day.  Both boys slept for a bit, even though they weren't tired...

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

Day 192

Summer fun...
Over the weekend we were able to get the back yard sprinklers up and running.
Today the boys took advantage and we turned them on while they jumped on the trampoline.

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Day 191

Hanging around...
lots of hanging around today

Day 190

So this is a picture-ish of the day.
Soccer season is starting to ramp up, with team meets and planning.
Working on designing a banner/flag for Ty's team was on the list today.

Day 189

Pictures hung...
I've had the worst case of the lazies lately.  So its feels like big victories when I finally get something done, like hanging pictures that have been sitting on the counter for a couple of weeks.

Award display...

The kids are involved in many different activities.  At the end of these things, there tends to be awards handed out.  These great awards were starting to clutter up their shelves and needed a new home where they weren't going to be ruined.
Solution: wooden plaques, printed paper, decoupage and screw in hooks.
Here is their new display....
Every swim meet the boys go to, the end up with ribbons.
To keep  the ribbons sorted, each year will get it's own plaque with a picture.
The swim meet date and who we were swimming against printed along the bottom.

Day 188

Hair cuts....
The boys' hair has been trashed by all the time in the pool since April.  Today it was time to get the first bit of it cut off.  Ty is happy to have his hair short enough to spike on top.

Day 187

This was our excitement for the day, tons of fun!

Day 186

I'm trying to finish my quilt, hand sewing the binding.  Sewing a bit in the evenings is working out okay, but that's a whole lotta quilt and gets quite warm!

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Day 185

We went to a block party in Rich and Judy's neighborhood for the 4th.
One of the houses had a super long slip and slide set up on the hill of their pasture, it was pretty awesome.

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Day 184

Lots of blue....
We picked up the boys' ribbons today from Saturday's meet.  So proud of all those blue ribbons!

Monday, July 2, 2012

Day 183

Bead to beat the heat...
A boy, his pattern book, a peg board and a box of beads, that's all it takes for a good time around here!

Sunday, July 1, 2012

Day 182

Medals and ribbons....
The boys are starting to collect a lot of medals and ribbons from their sporting endeavors.  In hopes of keeping the sanity with storing them, today's project was to make the print outs that will be Mod Podged onto wooden plaques.
