Packing away Christmas...

The last day of the year, working at a fresh start for the new one to come.  I hate how empty the house looks after Christmas.  This has been fun! 

Day 364

Coming home....

We had a bit of snow in Oregon & Nevada, then the roads cleared before hitting the mountain traffic.  As the sun was setting it created this little rainbow.

One last gift.....

The boys ended up with a duplicate gift, so we headed over to Walmart to exchange it.  They chose little remote control 4-wheelers, different frequencies, so they can play together.

Tubing....

We headed up the hill to Bogus Basin for a morning of tubing.

Snow!

It snowed so more over night, there was an attempt at a snow man that turned into a snow ball fight.

Aquarium....

Boise now has an aquarium, a great way to get out of the house.

Merry Christmas!

We had a wonderful Christmas with family, great food and a boat load of LEGO's.

Christmas Eve fun....

The boys played on the 4-wheeler and bikes today for a bit, then with Uncle Tim's old Hot Wheel city, ending with a round of Wipe Out on Kinect.  Good day!

Snow.....

We saw all kinds of weather today as we traveled to see family for Christmas.  

So glad when we finished our 11+ hour trek.

A bit of Christmas.....

We exchanged gifts with the Scollay side of the family tonight as we'll be gone on Christmas Day.

Ahhh Fuuudge....

Helper boy was in the kitchen today working on some fudge.  It's not Christmas until we have at least a small batch of fudge.  We ended up with 2 pans so we can pass some out to the neighbors across the street an family.

Warm winter fun....

It felt like early fall today; warmish with leaves falling from the trees.  

The boys worked hard and piled leaves onto the trampoline so that they could really jump into them.

Wrapped...

This is the week of wrapping, most of it was finished up tonight.  

The boys' things are not there and a few stragglers still to come.

Wild Nights and Lights.....

We went and enjoyed the lights around the Folsom Zoo tonight.  

It was beautiful.

A little bit of ugly....

Tonight we celebrated the Christmas season with some of my best friends and their families.  It's such an amazing thing to be privileged to have friends like these.  

Part of our fun for the evening was an ugly ornament exchange.  We spend the year searching for something that is just right, and then out of the blue you find it. 

Bacon and eggs are coming to our house for the Christmas tree!

Day 348

Park with friends....

The boys enjoyed a long overdue play date with some of our homeschooling friends today.  Rockets, basketball, football, exploring and tennis made for a fun afternoon.


*** In light of what happened today, I'm so grateful and blessed to be able to hug this little guy tonight.  It's unfathomable to think about what those families are going through.
Our thoughts are with those families as they attempt to move forward from this tragedy.

Christmas cookies....

Along with the lack of crafting is the lack of baking this season.  

We are heading off to a Christmas Party on Saturday and have put together a few treats for friends.

Lunch with my boys....

The advent calendar said we were to go downtown for lunch and visit Santa.  

We saw the big man twice over the weekend and mom just didn't have the energy to go down there, so we hit up Denny's instead.  The boys love this place!  Weirdos.

Christmas Crafting....

There isn't as much crafting going on this Christmas as in the past, but a few good ones will come out.  A painted canvas for a dear friend.

We walked around the court tonight; wasn't too cold or crowded and just a few new things to see.

We headed up the hill to Coloma for an old time Christmas.

Christmas for the Animals...

The Folsom Zoo gave presents to the animals today; treat filled boxes for them to tear into.  We haven't been before, but it was a ton of fun to see.

Hair cuts...

The boys were once again shaggy, so it was time for their quarterly hair cut.  

We tried a new sports place that is just for guys.  They were cut, washed, massaged and completely spoiled.  They can't wait to go back, Mom on the other hand wasn't as impressed.

This is what today's schedule looked like.  We left at 9 and didn't return until after 6, Ahhhh!

Making Snow Globes....

Today's advent activity was to make waterless snow globes.  It was simple and didn't take a lot of time, but the boys thought it was fun.

Book fair....

Our charter is holding a Scholastic book fair this week and we're able to use some of our funds to purchase books.  The boys were excited for new books, including the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book for Cody.

Skating and fish...

I couldn't pick just one picture from today. 

The advent calendar told us we were going on an ice skating field trip, so that's how we started our day.  With a lunch and school work break in the middle, we then headed down to the fish hatchery to enjoy the good weather.  We were able to catch the end of the salmon spawning, then went for nice walk around the aquatic center.

Stormy day....

Keith went to cheer on the Marathon runners, the boys and I were woken up by the storm, so a bit of Charlie Brown and some sewing projects filled our morning.

Advent Calendar....

It's back for 24 days of fun!  This year we have a joke each day taped to the outside, then on the inside there is an activity or candy treat.  Today the boys were able to play Wii for 1 hour.
