Day 59

Artsy....

The boys are taking art classes on Thursdays.  

Tyler's pottery class started making bird houses today, coiling clay around a balloon and then smoothing it out.  Cody is taking a painting class and they are working on a leopard on a branch painting.  Today he was adding detail to the branch by adding shadows.

Day 58

Creator Contest....

Cody is a member of the club LEGO and receives their magazine in the mail.  He found that they were doing a LEGO Creator contest where you design and build a car using any LEGO bricks and pieces.  He built a muscle car inspired hotrod, complete with a working hood and trunk and a 4 cylinder engine.  We submitted his entry today, let's hope he's one in a million!

Stretch....

Part of Ty's work today was stretching himself out, resting only his toes on the bar to support his handstand.

Front Hand Springs....

Tyler has been trying so hard to land a front hand spring on the trampoline, he's getting close.

Oscar's...

It's always more fun to watch the Oscar's with your friends.  So for the 2nd year in a row the Momtourage (minus 2) gathered for the viewing of the awards.  It was a lot of fun, we ate too much food and had a great running commentary.  My contribution was to bring dessert, gluten free cookies and cream cheese cake.  Then I got all fancy and piped chocolate onto a sheet, froze it and laid it on top.  Oscar for my ladies and names for the boys to take to family dinner.

Working on their rooms....

We worked today to finish moving things around and getting the boys' new room organized.  

Now to finish reorganizing the toy room.

Party time....

The boys were invited to a party tonight at one of the bounce places, they had a blast!

Sale weekend at the local Scholastic Warehouse = awesome! 

Only way this could have been better was if they had more adult titles.

Wipeout.....

Cody was invited to a friend's house for the morning, so I let Ty pick a game from the Redbox.  

He chose the newest Wipeout game, it was pretty funny.  

The characters were hilarious!

Day 50

Almost Spring....

The weather has been very warm the past week confusing a lot of the plants into thinking it's spring.  These lovelies were waiting for us at the gym this afternoon.

Organizing....

Before moving the books back onto the bookshelves in the boys' room it was time to sort through them again. 
Really this was a last ditch effort to hopefully find a lost library book, saving $20 in fees.

Room to grow....

Before and After

The boys are growing and could really use some more space.  After shopping around a bit, some IKEA loft beds were the fix.  Once finished we will have the books loaded onto the shelves, pillows to lounge on, the game shelf brought in and a coffee table to work/play on.  Loving how much brighter their room is without the bed blocking so much of the window!

Day 47

Weekend projects.....

Today we went to IKEA and came home with some big ol' boxes.  

So big we really had to work hard to get them into the Tahoe.

I gotta new trick.....

Little man started rolling from front to back this week.  He's very proud of this accomplishment.  

He's taking off on a jet plane with Mom and Dad to meet his Aussie family next week.  

We're going to miss him and it will be fun to see what he can do when he's back!

Done for know....

Tonight was the boys' last day of winter swim clinic.  It's been a wonderful experience and I'm glad we took the extra time to drive up the hill.  They've both gained some confidence and will hopefully have a kick start to the upcoming swim season.

Car School....

This has been the best position to work when we are out of the house and needing to get things done.  Cody found that using the front seat as a desk is easier than using his lap.

Day 42

Private.....

At the first of the year, Tyler moved up a level in gymnastics.  Unfortunately, they don't have enough class slots right now so he's back to one class a week.  In hopes of helping him build strength and continue to progress we signed up for a private with the head boys' coach.  He was worked for an hour, really focusing on form and conditioning.  He did great!

Day 41

Soccer Sunday...

Cody's indoor team had a bonus game on Sunday to give the team they were playing one more game in the session.  There wasn't a game before our so the boys were able to warm-up on the field.  Ty had fun playing out on the turf.

We were doing some price shopping at Lowe's and wondered over to the garden area.

There were so many statues that called to me, love!

Peaceful....

This one can really fight the sleep when he wants to.  Luckily he's adorable and we finally found his sweet spot of a time slot for his long afternoon snooze.

Working on organizing papers for our teacher visit tomorrow, enjoying the quiet while the boys were in their classes.

The hallway makes for a great runway for balls, cars and all sorts of games.

Climbing....

Grandpa surveyed the tree in the backyard and deemed it strong enough for a climbing rope.  He ordered one and it finally arrived today.  I'm hoping we can also add a new swing set for 2 swings and a pair of rings, and a high bar.  The boys would also love to have a digging place, so it's on the list.  

Hoping this is the year we can finally get our back yard in order!

Super Bowl!

I'm not a huge football fan.  If the right team is play (BSU) it can be fun to get into the game.  I'm one the likes to watch for the commercials.  

This year, Pinterest kept me company.  

Tyler made it through most of the game, but ended like this.

Last semester the boys worked on books in their writing class.

Today the finished books arrived in the mail.

Welcome to February....

Today was gorgeous out with sunny skies and warm weather.  The boys really enjoyed it!

Dreaming....

We made a stop into JoAnn's today for some Valentine's and the boys stumbled across this new section of building items.   This is going to make the upcoming Birthday list a little easier to figure out!

Reading time...

Tyler was helping with babysitting today by reading a book to Aiden. 

Really hoping he finds the love of the story like Cody has, we're still waiting for that light bulb to go off.

Check up....

It's been 6 months, time for another teeth cleaning for the boys.  

They enjoyed their video game time and watching Monsters vs Aliens.

They both joined the no cavity club, hooray! 

Day 28

Backstroke...

The last couple of days at swim clinic have been focusing on backstroke.  

Both boys are doing really well and picking up some new tips.  

Hopefully it will all stick when we start up again in April.

Organizing....

This is the start of the trash pile.  

It's been almost a year since I've gone through the magazine stack, pulled out articles to keep and recycled the rest.  Now when I'm done, I need to actually file them into the awesome file box I have waiting for them.  

Then it's time to move onto the recipe stack. (YIKES!)

Frustrated.....

 This one is having a rough indoor season. 

He's happy to have the chance to try it, but not having played with these guys before and playing high level teams, he's struggling.

School House Rock.....

The crazy boys and I went to Roseville to see School House Rock Live! today.  It was a great show with a hodge podge of old favorite songs.  I thought it was great and the boys seamed to have a good time as well.  We took advantage of the warm day and went to the park after.

Building....

Cody is a creator, he likes to draw things them build them out of LEGOs.  

Motors are the current obsession.

Day 23

Frustration.....

I've come to dread Wednesdays because it's usually the day that Cody has a response to literature type assignment for Language Arts.  He hates these assignments and usually spends most the day pouting about it before finally getting it done.  Today, he moved all around the house and outside while avoid his assignment, to the point that he never finished it.  More work for tomorrow.

I've a list of projects a mile long, some out in plane site in hopes of getting worked on.  

This pile is out and ready to be cut and tied into wreaths.

Tunneling...

The boys went to a model train show with Grandpa yesterday, it's sparked their interest in working on their railroad.  They have been working on this tunnel project for a couple of weeks.

Day 19

Stick....

They were working on forward and backward rolls during floor time today at gymnastics. 

He was doing his best to remember his positions that the team coach taught him last night.  

Day 18

Horizontal....

Tyler is a couple weeks into level 3 at the gym and is doing very well.  He's had a good time with the harder stuff and it's been fun to watch.  

His swings are getting much bigger on the rings. 

Day 17

Chapters....

 Tyler's reading has come a long way this year, this week we are starting to read his first chapter book together.  (Magic Tree House #1)  He's poking his way through it pretty well, just needs to gain some more confidence. 

Day 16

Flippin' Out....

This week at swim clinic they were working on flip turns.  I'm not sure that Cody has ever had any formal training with this, but had started to work on it last summer when we were at open swim.  After a few times and tips from the coaches, he's getting it figured out.  It's a bit of a drive twice a week, but this clinic will do wonders for his swim season.

Day 15

Phone home....

My poor, 1st generation Droid phone was dying a slow death.  It was doing fun things like pushing it's own buttons, not letting me answer calls, then hanging up on people when it finally did answer.  Upgrading was a must, the HTC Rezound was the winner.  It's been a cool phone so far, taking some time to get used to, but it syncs with all the things I'm used to using.  It's going better now that Keith and I can tell our phones apart.  (Enter owl skin and coordinating background)

Go Long!

It's been chilly here (for us) the last few day, but the sun was shining bright today.  

The boys had a lot of time to play outside and enjoy it.  

Up the hill at swim tonight, there was ice on the deck.  Not awesome for the parents, the kids were nice and warm in the pool though!

Day 13

Belated Birthday.....

We celebrated both brother-in-laws' Birthdays this afternoon, one a month late and the other was this past week.  We've had an overly eventful week in the family and it was nice to have everyone together in a mellow setting.  

Tyler still likes to help everyone open their presents, especially Uncle Stu's.   

Day 12

GOALLLLLLLL!

Cody's team had a victory today and he scored a goal! 

After thinking and talking a bit we came to realize that this is probably the first goal he's scored since his first year playing in the U6 micro league.  He was very happy with himself.  

Hopefully they can work with this momentum and gain some confidence for next weeks match.

We had our Friday play date at the park, testing out the camera on my new phone.

Watchin' You...

I was trying to get a good picture of the spot under Tyler's eye (It's been there well over a month now) and thought it turned out pretty cool.  Love those crazy brown eyes.  

He's also had a similar style rash around his mouth that pops up when he's eaten a lot of apples (we think).  We've tried our best to be apple free the last 3 weeks or so and his mouth has cleared up, this spot under his eye is still hanging on.  It kind of reminds me of when he had eczema as a baby.
